So, as you've seen on stories, to which many of you replied with concern, we had a major storm on Friday that left Marbella with a bit upside down: broken parts of boardwalk and piers, beaches with no sand but full of stones and plastic and, the worst of it all, the chiringuitos with water all the way into the kitchens. The huge sandcastle by the Skol is gone, as all the small massage kiosks all the way to Puerto Banus. Of course it was a beautiful natural show to admire from the higher floors, or from sea level, if you dared to go near the waves. This square here was full of inspiring quotes such as - when life gives you waves, then learn to surf - find beauty in chaos - mother nature own show on so on... but what about the small business that had to shut shop for 2 days? who is going to pay for the cleaning and the repairs? why a worldwide known landmark such a Marbella doesn't have defences to protect its mayor asset that are the beaches? And we're just not going to talk about the plastic and rubbish the waves brought back, because it's just way too much out of control. About the weekend… We had the great honor to help @bahal & @peyman_s craft their dream: a weekend long celebration with their friends and family. Nearly 70 beautiful souls came to Marbella to celebrate the union of this beautiful couple with We kicked off on Saturday with a boat trip on @flybluemarbella to @puertobanusoficial admiring Marbella coastline, sunbathing, drinking and dancing 💃🏻 Then we went to @basilio_beach to enjoy the sunset 🌅 at the beach 🏖 and a beautiful fresh fish dinner with some more dancing 💃🏻 and live music 🎶 Sunday was the big day and the chosen venue was @lacabanebeachclub where @studiode_fleurs created a pink roses garden and @soul_events_ the most amazing dance floor. The weather wasn’t exactly as expected, but doing the best with what we were given, everyone had an amazing day and @sunnyseptemberphotography & @lalibelulafilms captured the essence of each of the member of this beautiful family. To wrap up on Monday morning we had a white party beachfront brunch at @diblu_marbella What we take away from this experience is the desire everyone had to celebrate, be together, enjoy every minute and feel alive again. Not to mention the vast knowledge of Persian wedding celebrations and Persian society in general we gathered across these past few months and now seen it put in place. Now Iran 🇮🇷 has been added onto our travel bucket list 🤪 Thank you for letting us be part of your happiness guys, it has been an utter pleasure. Choose well your co-pilot He/She’s the one that picks the music 🎶 #25yearsandcounting Back in pre pandemic times, we were planning a once in a life time trip to celebrate our 25th anniversary We’re not married (that’s a whole other story) so we count from the day we met, that was June 96 in London UK 🇬🇧 (a whole other story) So the idea was something like Egypt, Caribbean, Thailand or even as far as Fiji or Australia But our world changed and we ended up 5 days on the Càdiz coast on a beautiful beach, only 200 km from Marbella. But you know what? We enjoyed every minute of sunshine, every mouthful of the beautiful fish we had and cherished our time together as a family being thankful of being healthy and strong. We had long walks, interesting talks and managed to disconnect a bit, one of the biggest challenge for digital nomads as we always carry our work with us. Spent the last couple of day saying bye bye 👋 to regular summer guests… 𝕊𝕖𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕟𝕖𝕩𝕥 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕒𝕟𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝𝕪 𝕙𝕠𝕝𝕚𝕕𝕒𝕪 ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕟𝕚𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪 𝕓𝕖 𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖 Were the most repeated sentences all over the gardens in the last weeks. Summer season really kicked of around the 15th July and since then it’s been a whirlwind 🙃 The majority of you guys didn’t really believe you’ve managed to get here after all we’ve been through, and seeing your happy faces all over made our days every day and made us carry on. About Last night… Thank you @lindahotelmarbella for inviting us to try your newly opened gastrobar. The historic b&b is located in calle Ancha, one of the most picturesque streets of Marbella Old Town, full of flowers and flavors. It’s just been completely refurbished with extreme taste, quality and attention to details. It’s a small local business that has been going for years and need our support to keep thriving. The young enthusiastic staff is professional, friendly and attentive, a pleasure to deal with. You can choose to wine & dine at street level watching the world go by or on the roof top terrace, admiring the streets from above or get lost in the nearby buildings and seagulls flying around. Whichever option will guarantee you a dinner with a view. We had no doubts and we settled in a comfy sofa upstairs to enjoy some fresh cocktails 🍹 #aperolspritz deserves a special mention as not easy to find a good one outside Italy 🇮🇹 and this was really good 👍 The guitar music played at street level made the ambience typically Andalucian. Tarifa is a small town located on the Gibraltar straight just opposite Tangier, Africa, famous for its 300+ windy days per year, hence the paradise of kite and wind surfers across Europe. Valdevaqueros beach, just a couple of kilometers West from the town, is the Mecca of thousands of them, that everyday fill the blue sky with their colorful kites. It's a delight to spend the day on the beach there, sunbathing and swimming in the cristal clear waters with the sight up, just admiring them. There are 3 beach bars that serve normal honest affordable food, nothing fancy, but the chilled out hip ambience is unbeatable. Sunsets are a business of their own with various barmen competing over the best mojito of the beach, as well the unbeatable sun sinking in the sea until the following day. The actual town of Tarifa has a delightful Old Town with cobbled streets, typical Spanish tavernas, artisan shops ideal to pick up a unique piece of clothing or decoration to take home as a souvenir and the beach of the two seas: on the left you swim in the Mediterranen while looking over to the white town of Tangier, only 9 km away across the strait. on the right you swim in the Atlantic while looking out at the open waters of the ocean. a unique emplacement in Europe. Further on, a couple of more beach bars, including Cafe Del Mar, but hopefully we hall write about them over the next couple of weeks. Staying in Marbella and want to take a day trip to Tarifa? About last night… San Juan’s night really kicks off the summer and is celebrated every year on the 23rd June in all beaches of Spain wearing white, eating sardines and throwing the wishes in the bonfires 🔥 This year we still didn’t get the permission to light them up, apparently they can also be contagious 🤪, so we had to do with candles 🕯 But hey, still better than last year… The cool thing about the bonfire 🔥 is that when there are just ashes left, the bravest ones walk on them and the whole beach applauds them. If you want to be the star ⭐️ of next year party, you can start training 🤪 Then, this being Marbella, the beach bars organize live music to dance the night away, so it becomes a celebration similar to New Years. It catches everyone’s attention for its unique architecture made of pointy towers, tall arches and the contrast of the white of the walls, the blue of the windows with the greens of the lush gardens. Conceived by a Japanese architect in the 80’s, it was meant to be a breakthrough in the Marbella Mediterranean style of buildings. But it was to extreme, very few units were sold and when the building works were nearly finished, the construction company went bust and it got repossessed by the banks. It sat there for a few years and in the 90’s, it became the start of the development of the Golden Apple of Marbella, together with the marble buildings nearby, to give an idea of utmost luxury where central Marbella blends with the Golden Mile.
