10 Reasons to Buy a Property in Marbella

Daniela & Vincenzo Marbella Holidays • Mar 11, 2021

Marbella has always been one of the most after destinations within Europe, but even more over the last year, as our realities went upside down and our priorities shifted completely.

The freedom we once took for granted was taken away from us overnight and while we were forced into lockdowns, outdoor living became the highest of luxuries.

Remote Working was the norm and working from any home a very strong possibility.

So we weren't surprised by the amount of people that flew to Marbella in June/July wanting to buy a place in the sun in case more lockdowns would materialise, which unfortunately revealed true since Autumn and those who made the right choice are already benefitting from the lifestyle change.

1 - Microclimate: with 300 sunny days a year Marbella is the paradise of outdoor life with fresh air from the Mediterranean all year long.

It's very normal to enjoy 15/20 degrees in winter and some weeks of 25 in the middle of autumn and winter making it a Beach Lover Paradise.

You can lie on the Blue Flagged beaches and sunbathe nearly every day of the year taking in the vitamin D from the sun and the salty air from the sea, both extremely beneficial for one's health.

Most beach bars and kiosks are open all year long to grab a bite or a cool drink.

2 - Sports Paradise:

Golf - with over 20 courses you only choose one each day to enjoy the breathtaking views from each one of the greens, Crossfit, Yoga, Pilates on many Marbella beaches, by yourself or with a group

Running, Cycling, Walking on the boardwalk

Hiking on the hills behind Marbella and Puerto Banus while enjoying the most beautiful views of the coast.

Water sports: paddle surf, sailing, kayaking, jet sky and water sky are just a few of the options in the deep blue sea.

All outside while taking in the fresh air and sunning your beautiful face.

And the the odd rainy and grey days (flowers need to be watered) the most exlusives gyms and spa of the 5* hotels are available to you.

3 - Medical Care: various private and public hospitals with the top staff and facilities in and around Marbella will put your mind at ease in case you need assistance.

And also plenty options for aestetic medicine, IVF clinics, detox and slimming programs.

4 - Great investment: specially now that prices have dropped in the centre around 10% and outside the urban locations of Marbella and Puerto Banus up to 20%.

Properties always increase in value over the years and will get to pre pandemic levels by the end of 2021.

So you can buy, enjoy, rent as Marbella has it's own micro economy that doesn't really go with the rest of Spain and will be the first to recover.

5 - Location: 2 and half hours from all the mayor European cities, easily reachable from Malaga just refurbished modern airport.

Many families live permanently in Marbella and travel when needed for work or pleasure and some others just commute thank to the amazing travel network.

The jet set works in Europe during the week and sun themselves in Marbella at the weekend.

Tropical climate at your fingertips and ski slopes at 2 hours drive.

6 - Food: We've lost count of the Michelin stars in our piece of paradise, but you can also enjoy daily fresh local sourced produce in one of the many chiringuitos on the beach, the tapas places in the Old town, the huge variety of international restaurants and cafes all around town: Italian, Argentinian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Thai, various kind of fusions of two or more of them (Mexican/MiddleEast, Mexican/Asian, etc.)

Not the mention the boom of healthy cafes that have opened all around Marbella and Puerto Banus, with all sort of dietary restrictions options available.

Nearly forgetting that all the above is now available for delivery straight to your doorstep, foodies: we have you!

7 - Parties: for both nightlife and afternoon parties at the beachclubs, the variety and quality of venues and kinds of celebrations is comparable to any mayor city and nearby island.

Music by worldwide known Djs, flowing rivers of champagne, signature cocktails and boat parties.

8 - No Need to be a Millionaire to enjoy Marbella lifestyle, like most mayor cities, here you can live at all sort of levels to Top Luxury to normal working people and have the most amazing lunch in the country for 10€.

You just have to know where to go.

The majority of restaurants, cafes, activities and properties are withing reach of everybody, plus walking around Puerto Banus and admiring the yachts or window shopping is free.

9 - Culture and heritage: Malaga, Cordoba, Sevilla, Cadiz, Ronda, Tangier are all within reach for a day trip or a long weekend with their historic monuments, museums and history.

Marbella has it's own culture clubs, reading groups, lecture halls in English, Spanish, German and French

10 - Cosmopolitan atmosfere: everyone is welcome and feels at home in Marbella, all backgrouds and religions live here in peace and respect, enriching each other with their own traditions and celebrations.

The town hall supports and helps organise the various nationalities days either in the Old Town or on the prom whit each of them typical food and music.

It's pretty normal to be walking or sitting in a cafe and be surrounded by conversations in different languages, or be in a group with 3 or more nationalities, usually mixing languages.

The kids in the schools here not only learn from a very young age English and Spanish, that are Marbella official languages, but also that we are all equal and benefit from each other differences.

If you're active on social media you're bound to have heard about it, but what exactly is Revenge Travel? And revenge from who and what exactly? It was one of the biggest anticipated travel trends when last June planes started to fly again around Europe and travelers went off to their favorite places. If in a normal year, one would take a family holiday and 2 breaks, after nearly 2 years of pandemic, with the disruption of having to repeatdily cancel holidays, the majority of us feel we missed out on a lot and that we are owed big time by life itslef. So this year we want to make up for lost time and book if not double as much as a normal year holiday, at least 30% more. We've seen some of our guest twice already, once with family or loved one and then with friends, and that in not even 6 months.

Marbella has over 300 sunny days a year which leaves us with 60 days of rain, when we have to find alternatives to enjoying life outside. The first options would of course be shopping at La Cañada or Corte Ingles, but because we're all about local businesses rather than big enterprises, we'll offer you some more sustainable alternatives.

Up until 2019 the Digital Nomads were perceived as some lazy freaks, who pretended to be working from paradisiac beaches while showing up on Instragram lying on an hammock with an Apple Mac while sipping water straight from a coconut. And the Digital Families, as some crazy heartless parents who were putting their kids in danger by taking them to remote destinations with no drinking water or proper health care and depriving them of the "normal school education", stability and routines. People in general were failing to understand how one could have a decent job and do proper work from somewhere rather than a fancy corporate office or teach their kids as well as, if not better than, the schools. As someone who has been a digital nomad before the term was even invented, and spent the mayority of the working life sitting in a cafe on an inflatable ball, and understood the importance of "kids copy what you do not what you tell them to do" I can tell you none of the above is true and that to be a Digital Nomad (single, couple or family) you do not need to go to Bali, Fiji, South America or Byron Bay, the Spanish coast in perfect, easy and affordable. So in March 2020 our world was put upside down, the freedom we took for granted disappeared overnight, we had to adapt quickly in a sea of uncertainties, work and learn from home became the new normal and surprise suprise, the people that had previously worked remotely from home and other places, were used to flexible hours and thinking outside the box, embraced the new normal with less stress and anxiety, transmitting peace and calm to their kids. The corporate lot embraced the work and teach from home less keenly, but soon found that it was a perfectly acceptable way of life and since then many corporation have introduced the "work from home as long as you like" formula. And when the borders reopened in June many of them tought: If Work From Home can be Work From Any Home, then we might as well go somewhere with better weather, where we can enjoy outdoor activities and take care of our mental health. All this became even more relevant as summer ended and the rainy autumn made his appearence in the Northern countries, the grey skys not improving the mood, the school and offices that weren't going to reopen, our new normal being Zoom, Meet and Teams, so we started to see different types of families coming to us to spend a couple of months, get some winter sun and vitamin sea with the only requirements of reliable fast WiFi and well stocked kitchen to cook healthy meals for the kids.
